We found out... we didn't like the idea of anyone knowing (the doctors) without us knowing. Plus, it gave us the chance to focus on one gender for naming, not two.

In the end, it was good that we did, because we were both convinced we were having a girl... finding out Jakob's gender gave us several months to get used to the idea of a boy.

Maybe you could be surprised on the first one and not on the second one? Or vice versa? It sounds like it wouldn't really matter to you if you're gender neutral on colors. I will HAVE to find out. I'm too anal-retentive to not know. Plus, I don't want to pick two names. Hee! Lazy to the core.

HEY! What happened to my comment?! I posted before, but I'll post again. I say find out! But then, my family opens all our gifts on Christmas Eve because of my impatient ass, too, LOL! Patience is a virtue -- and I have none.

I say wait. If Boyfiend doesn't want to know, I think the most mature and kind thing to do would be to grant him this, especially since you're wavering on it.

Because you know you'd tell him if you knew, it would be like taking the decision away from him completely.

I say find out. I'm planning on finding out, if the baby cooperates at our ultrasound. I'm still decorating in a neutral way (not big on the pink/blue either) and I don't think I'll call my belly by name once I know what it is, either.

I mean, I'm surprised enough that there's a BABY coming, so I figure why not know ahead of time.

I vote for a surprise too. Finding out at the birth will be like an additional reward for...you know, all that labor. It's one of the few truly beautiful surprises in life. Plus you'll be less likely to think of him/her by a name during pregnancy if you don't know.
