I started reading this post and it drew me in right away, like the opening of a novel. I'm curious as to what other sorts of writing pursuits you partake in. In any event, I enjoyed this story of snuffed out promise. I must ask: what led you to the conclusion that this sophisticated young man was prejudiced toward black people? Were the "Canadians" at his firm actually Canadians? Were many of them black? It seems an odd jump for one to make. Just curious.
